Sertoman of the Day

Steve Bolyard

Steve is from the GREAT STATE OF LOUISIANA—and a little town in Cajun country called Houma.  He has worked with Northwestern Mutual Life for many years.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.  He and Jean have three children.  Steve is a long-time Sertoman who has brought in 82 members to Sertoma.
He was brought into Sertoma by Dick Kreig.  Steve reviewed some of the history of Arapahoe’s past presidents.  Steve knows a lot of history about Arapahoe.

Jim Crawford

Jim Crawford, who has retired from US West’s Wireless division, and current member of Trout Unlimited brought us a program on Referendum A which allows for the issuance of $2 billion in revenue bonds to develop water projects throughout the state.  He presented Trout Unlimited recommendation of a “No” vote on Referendum A.

Trout Unlimited reports four reasons they are against the referendum.  There are no specific projects on which the funds will be spent.  State backed funds could be used to fund privately developed water projects.  Colorado taxpayers could find themselves responsible for repaying the revenue bonds.  And the fourth reason is that there is a lack of protection from diversion of water from the western slope.

They recommend that instead of this referendum, that existing water systems be restored and enhanced; development of a statewide water conservation program, and identify projects that provide new storage and then search for the funding.
