This Week In Review

Good food today - Homemade Meatloaf (sort-a like Mom's), Cornbread dressing, Corn and Monster Cookies.  Rene Campbell  joined us today, snapping pictures of anyone show would stand still for a few seconds (for the scrapbook). She said she did not care for lunch.  Rick, non the less, was fined for simply not attending to his guest's needs.  The fine amount continued to increase, but finally ended when Rick promised to take her out to a nice dinner and entertainment.  (The snack bar at the Bingo hall doesn't count, Rick).  There were no other guests, but Dave Miley was back following his recent surgical episode, looking quite well although a bit shinier on top.  Welcome back Dave.  Report is that Mr. Parchen, in recovery, will be back soon also.  Mr. McKim reported the D team, one of the premier bingo teams in the club, had a so-so evening, with only 85 players and 8 members participating.  Two Handshake prizes were awarded by Ex-King Hunter- one to Mike Ballew, one to Mike Magee.  Mr. Worth lectured the club on the original intent of the handshake prize (that being to encourage early arrival, meeting and greeting), and noting that Mr. Ballew arrived will after the meeting had started.  No action was taken, and all were forgiven.
The Pot O Gold was most difficult to give away: Members John Hogge, Jason Hand and John Pifer could have had the coinage but were absent; Orian Hunter was present and did accept the loot.
The meeting today set the modern record for short meetings (see reasons below).
Sertoman of the Day

Today's SOD was...

a - not selected
b - not present
c - bashful

You choose the answer

Today's Program was, unfortunately,  not able to join us, and will be rescheduled.
Dave Miley filled in with a few words (a very few words) about his non elective surgery.
He does not recommend it!

There is much work to be done in the community.  We are the ones to supply those needs.
 But...we need more folks to share the load.  Search among your friends, neighbors and
 business acquaintances to see who is a potential member.
 Then, ask them to lunch this week.
 Do it today.

Greater Rocky Mountain Regional Convention

It doesn't get any more convenient.  Sponsored by the Monument Hill Sertoma Club, the 55th Greater Rocky Mountain Regional Convention will be held at the Sheraton Hotel - DTC.
It begins Thursday evening, May 15 and runs through the Grand Ball Saturday evening on the 17th.  All meals Friday and Saturday are covered, including a Friday evening visit to the Country Dinner Playhouse just next door.  Plenty of worthwhile activities and workshops.  It is fun to share time with Sertomans from all over the region.  You will enjoy spending time in the hospitality rooms.  The club will cover a substantial part of the costs.  Call Phil Grimm today for information.

Thoughts to Ponder

The Prez Phil Grimm Suggests the following for the times:

The Jaycee Creed

We Believe...

That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That governments should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies in the human personality;

That service to humanity is the best work of life.
