THIS WEEK IN REVIEW ....May 19, 2005

This weeks Reporter- Mike Magee

Song - Tommy Fry           Pledge -  Bill Benton               Invocation - Dave Miley

Today Las Brisas served a chicken, artichoke, pasta dish along with French bread and huge lo-cal brownies. Yum! Our guests today were Mario Marchello, Jill Wayne, and Lee Lownsberry from Littleton Sertoma. Table 16 ( Benton ’s) got fined for not introducing their guests. Bob Buckland announced the June 24th installation banquet and sent around a sign up sheet. Bez said the bingo results were less than great the night before. Did someone take their shorts? Oh well, it was something like that. McKim got one of America ’s Most Wanted sent to the slammer for slipping him a bad check at bingo a couple of years ago. Supposedly he knew it was bad when he took it (?). He must have been distracted by all of the beautiful women at bingo! Norm Selby had a drawing for a foursome at a  June 16th charity tournament. Lee Lownsberry pushed the Littleton Sertoma Golf Tournament Monday June 13th a Heather Ridge Country Club. Then we gave out some money. Jack Marshall presented Jill Wayne with $5,000. for The Denver Center for Hearing ,Speech and Language. Dave Miley told of a two year  scholarship for  post graduate work in hearing that was presented to a worthy recipient from our Arapahoe  Foundation. Pat McKim presented Mario Marchello’s foundation with a $2,500. check. That money is used for scholarships for cancer survivors. Wow, that really makes the hours spent at bingo OK when you see how much good we are doing as a club. Mike Ballew announced the June 11th leadership conference. Handshake prize went to Dean Hiss, POG to Bob Buckland.

Sertoman of the Day

Today’s SOD was Dick Laskey. Reading from some notes on the back of a dinner plate (which was empty by then) Dick said that he was born in 1948 in Detroit , Michigan . He received his degree in accounting from Western Michigan State (I think that was the school), and in 1974 moved to Colorado and joined a CPA firm. He later went in business for himself as a CPA which is what he is doing currently. He joined Sertoma in 1980 and was a Gold Coat President in 1986. He has been treasurer about 5 times and served on the board almost every year he has been a member. Dick has a son and a daughter and two grandchildren. Mabe, a guy with money to burn, got his fiver.

Today’s program was introduced by Tim Pollak, taking Barney”s place. Tim introduced Suzanne Simpson who described herself as a professional life counselor and talked about “The Top Ten Ingredients for Attracting Success”. She explained that through positive psychology we can produce the life we really want. After expounding on her ten points, she ended with this quote from Henri Frederic Amiel “ It is not what he has, nor even what he does, which directly expresses the worth of a man, but what he is”. Thanks for a good program.

A 75 year old woman went to the doctor for a checkup. The doctor told her that she needed more cardiovascular activity and recommended that she engage in sexual activity  three times a week.
A bit embarrassed, she said to the doctor, “Please tell my husband”
The doctor went out to the waiting room and told the husband that his wife needed sex three times a week.
The 78 year old husband replied “ Which days?”
The doctor answered “Monday,Tuesday and Friday would be ideal”
The husband said “ I can bring her on Monday, but on Tuesday and Friday I golf so she’ll have to take the bus.
