THIS WEEK IN REVIEW ....Apr 15, 2010
This weeks Reporter-Don Smith

Quote:   “The early bird may get the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese in the trap”.

Guests:   Geoff Strohn is official, John Vierthaler inducted him into the club and Ken pinned him. Welcome Geoff. Peter Pauwels will be inducted as soon as we get a kit together and after this second publishing.

Fines: Ken was fined for not sitting with his guest/new member; Mason for asking what day it is (he is a CPA); Geoff was fined just to welcome him into the club.

Bingo:   Thank goodness it’s over; we only had about 68 players and a deposit of $3,700. It was roughly calculated that the club raised over $500,000 in the 25 years of hosting bingo and that money went back into the community helping many people. Great job everyone.

Announcements:   Bill Benton says April 29th for a trip to Black Hawk. If you still want to go, contact Bill.

Applebee's Breakfast April 24th:

The 7th Annual Mountain West Convention is April 29 through May 1st at Reno, NV. John Vierthaler said Bob Hogge’s name will be mentioned there.

Pat McKim reminded us we need players for the upcoming Poker Night on May 25th. The prizes are getting better and the grand prize so far is the donation of a condo for the weekend in Beaver Creek that can sleep 17 people. Our lunch hostess has donated several prizes.

We may use our lemon aide stand at the Walk For Hearing May 22nd at Klamath Park.

Will Martinez has King Soopers coupons. The club receives 5% but only 4 people regularly use the service. The card is like a debit card so it’s easy to use.

Ed Bezjak grew up in Denver, and after various grade schools attended Annunciation High School. As part of the parochial league, Ed and his team mates held their own against rivals such as Regis.

Ed met Margie in 1955 and has been married to her for 54 years. They have 2 daughters and 3 grandkids. All are above average.

In 1992, Ed was inducted into the Colorado Softball Hall of Fame which indicates he had a fair amount of talent in that sport. Ed has been in Sertoma about 40 years and was brought into the club by Doug Harder. Ed was the original captain of bingo and figures he has road that horse long enough. Ed returned from his winter hibernation just in time to be the SOD. (yes Don, I was gone).

Program:  Mike Magee introduced T.J.Slocum and Kate from REC Solar. REC Solar, Inc. specializes in grid-tied solar electric design and installation, offering the latest technology, state of the art equipment, and financing opportunities for all commercial and residential customers. We maintain a dedicated staff of engineers, designers, and installers to make solar a turnkey solution for our customers. REC Solar's vision is to make solar electricity part of the mainstream energy supply. By commercializing energy sources that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, we can contribute to a more secure and sustainable world.
One of the nation’s largest photovoltaic installation companies with several million watts of solar installed, we currently serve Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Jersey, and Oregon residents and business owners. We hope to encourage local and national legislation in order to make solar a practical investment opportunity in every state.
Since 2006, REC Solar has been ranked by the California Energy Commission (CEC) as one of the top solar system installation companies in the state. With the recent Million Solar Roofs legislation signed into action by Governor Schwarzenegger, California has emerged as the nation’s leader in renewable energy and solar electric installations.
REC Solar was founded in 1997 by Judy Ledford and Fred Sisson. REC Solar is one of only a few solar electric companies in California with engineers certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.
Although having a national presence, REC Solar prides itself on being a local business in all of the communities where we offer solar electric systems. We currently have over 250 full time employees and we are committed to providing competitive jobs in the communities that we serve.

Sertoma News Service 4/12/2010

Its Free for the Asking!!

The Board has approved a new club services program (catchy name still to be determined). A full description of the purpose and structure is found on the web site.

In short, during the year Sertoma will provide six to nine 15 -20 minute presentations for clubs to use during club meetings or other club functions. These presentations will include training on club management, mission activities, fundraising, and other Sertoma updates. Presentations will be given by a Club Liaison trained by Sertoma through either a live webinar, or a recording of the webinar.

All your club needs is to have a member agree to be the Club Liaison. The webinars are free to the Club Liaison, as are the presentation/training materials shared with the club. In addition, through your club liaison, you have a direct link to request training and or information on topics of specific interest to your club.

Watch for more information in the coming months on how to register for this program. Don’t let your club miss out on this new service – identify your Club Liaison now !!
