SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Ed Bezjak grew up in Denver, and after various grade schools attended Annunciation High School. As part of the parochial league, Ed and his team mates held their own against rivals such as Regis.

Ed Bezjak.JPG

Ed met Margie in 1955 and has been married to her for 56 years. They have 2 daughters and 3 grandkids. All are above average.

In 1992, Ed was inducted into the Colorado Softball Hall of Fame which indicates he had a fair amount of talent in that sport. Ed has been in Sertoma about 41 years and was brought into the club by Doug Harder. Ed was the original captain of bingo and figures he has road that horse long enough. Ed returned from his winter hibernation a couple weeks ago, just in time to be the SOD. He also said he “stole a house in Arizona” so I guess he will be down there a little more in the future. {Hey Ed, you going to rent it out ?}        Listen to EdBezjak.mp3

Program:   Geoff Strohn, trying to work off a little community service from all his evil ways, introduced Brian Taylor, an Englewood motorcycle cop and Toni Arnoldy, the Englewood Police Department Community Relations Specialist. They came to talk about several things such as Getting involved, metal theft and motorcycle awareness.

Toni Arnoldy.JPG   Brian Taylor.JPG

Theft of metal, either new or scrap, is getting to be a major problem. Thieves will steal copper, aluminum and brass and sell the metal at salvage yards. They will break into your home and tear out the water pipes or metal from your air conditioning units and sprinklers systems.

Getting involved can mean calling 911 or the local police department phone number (Englewood=303 762-2438) if you see ANY THING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. Toni said they are there 24/7 just waiting for your call, no matter how trivial. They would rather prevent a crime before it happens then deal with it after it happens. Toni passed out a check list of what to expect when you call 911, you can find it here: 911Checklist.pdf

Office Brian Taylor had to take off but he wanted everyone who rides motorcycles to know of this event: Englewood Police Presents - Motorcycle Awareness, May 5th at the Arapahoe Credit Union, 303 E Hampden from 5pm to 7pm. Reserve your spot by contacting Officer Brian Taylor, 303 783-6814
