Guests:  Bob Buckland brought 2 guests, George Mucilli and John Zamino:
Jim Robinson introduced his LSC Vicky Oren

Fines:   Of course Table 1 was fined for violating their own rules of “No Guests”…Passed

Announcements:   I have it on good authority that George Hannes donated a $20 bill so the “Bar Flies” will be able to enjoy a beer or 2.

Mike Magee passed around a “sign-up” sheet for a tour of the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) in Golden for Wed. April 22, at 10:00am.

John Vierthaler, acting as “field reporter” gave a report on the past Greater Park Hill Jazz party and he just couldn’t say enough about how great it was, very classy and well done. (Makes Arapahoe proud to know we started that club). Keep up the good work Park Hill.

Several members visited Dean Hiss the last couple days and one reported that Dean may be able to go home next Monday or Tuesday. He was seen sitting in a wheel chair but said he doesn’t need it to get around, doing fine with his cane. Come back soon Dean.

Our Service to Mankind nominee is Doug Jackson, CEO of Project CURE and he will be our Program April 16th.

Pat KcKim – The poker party will be held May 19th, 6-12pm at the Elks club. Price will be $65 again and Pat will have tickets maybe in a couple weeks. More details later but start rounding up prospective players. Beer and Wine – cash bar – with a light appetizer type meal included.

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:  Dick Laskey returned today to be our SOD. Dick was born 8-15-48 in Detroit Michigan, he says he enjoyed the area as a young lad but not now, it’s just not the same. His grandfather was a dentist who worked on notables such as Race Beamer of early radio fame and baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb.

His high school is closed and his rivers were the Detroit & Rouge rivers. Dick joined Sertoma in 1980 and has served in many of the club offices including President (Gold Coat) in 1986, Treasurer, etc. plus the highly regarded position of Bingo Captain.

Dick has been married to Linda since 1970 (that’s 45 years) and they have a daughter and a son plus two grandkids. He earned an accounting degree at Kalamazoo U. and moved to Colorado in 1973 when he heard CPA’s were needed in the Denver area. He came out to visit a collage friend and got a job. Dick had no military.

Dick said tax season is over so maybe he can attend more often now. Listen to Dick Laskey.mp3

Dick brought an old stock certificate that was his Great Grandfathers:

Program:   Randy had a little cittuation that prevented him from attending lunch today so Mike Magee did the honors of introducing Dick Crysdale. Dick worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for over 30 years before retiring. He received a degree in Geography from Carroll College in Wisconsin in 1961, then earned his Masters in Outdoor Recreation at Utah State University.

Dick spent most of his career working with water issues and related occupations, including being the Environmental Specialist for the Lower Missouri Region; Assistant Director of the Recreation Management Institute at Texas A&M; Senior Outdoor Recreation Planner; and a Seasonal Park Ranger at Yellowstone Lake; as well as projects such as "Recreation Carrying Capacity of Water Resources" and "An Analysis of Lake Zoning Factors, Objectives and Problems on Yellowstone Lake." Dick's passion became saving the Cutthroat trout in Yellowstone Lake from the Lake trout, which is an exotic species to the lake and predatory toward the cutthroat. His work has become more active over the last few years, having received funding and other support. Dick has written a book on the Cutthroat trout from which the proceeds go to protect the cutthroat trout at Yellowstone. Listen to Dick Crysdale.mp3   His audio includes the audio from the video we watched.
