THIS WEEK IN REVIEW ....April 6, 2006
This weeks Reporter-Carl Duncan

PROPOSED MEMBER: Pursuant to section 3, ARTICLE IV (Membership) of the Club's constitution, you are herewith informed that STERLING CAIN has applied for membership in our club, and any member having an objection to his admission must file such objection in writing with a Club officer. This is the second announcement of Cain's membership application as required by the above referenced ARTICLE, and the Board is authorized to act on his application at the next Board Meeting on April 11, 2006.

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors will take place at 6PM Tuesday the 11th of April. In addition, annual Year End Reports from all Directors are due on or before April 20, 2006. We need to designate delegates to the District convention. Anyone interested should contact either Pres Jack Marshall or Dist Governor Mike Ballew.

Ready or not, the RAFFLE will take place on April 22 and the "or not" is not acceptable. Three items remain to be completed: 1) we need more door prizes, 2) turn in the cash and the ticket stubs 3) canvass the people to whom you sold a ticket to determine if they will attend. We can reduce our cost by not providing a meal to the NO SHOWS.

By admitting that he had never received a HANDSHAKE PRIZE, Dave Penland was awarded a coffee mug. Since he was the only one who confessed to never having been chosen for the prize, it appears that every one in the club has now had that honor at least once.

SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:
None: We had 2 programs instead

PROGRAM 1: CHRISTINA HAXTON, who has a Masters Degree in marriage and family therapy, uses horses in her workshops. An extended and frustrating experience of trying to get a horse into a horse trailer taught her two lessons: 1) you can judge the quality of your ability to communicate by the results you get and 2) do not keep doing what does not work. Overcoming the "horse trailer experience" gave her the unique idea of using horse behavior to teach others practical skills in communication, team building, goal setting etc .    www.HorseSenseTeamBuilding.com

PROGRAM 2: H.E.A.R.T. is a contraction of Health, Education, for Africa Resource Team and that title sums up who they are and what they do. They organize and send teams of volunteers to Kenya to teach the locals how to prevent AIDS, TB, malaria and typhoid. The also assist with orphan care and provide school uniforms. They have completed the drilling of two water wells, and have created a workshop in which women are gainfully employed in the production of mosquito nets which have reduced the incidence of malaria. They underwrite the cost of facial surgery which reduces or eliminates facial deformities and host medical camps in remote areas that have little or no access to medications and doctors.

Through christian compassion and professional resources they strive to improve the physical, spiritual and emotional health of the Kenyans.   www.africaheart.com
