Guests:   n/a

FINES:  A couple to those that were late because they were in the "other room" to long.

Foundation News:  The Foundation still has a cemetery plot or two for sale. They are located at Chapel Hill Cemetery. If interested, contact one of the Foundation members or me ( ) and I will forward your contact to one of them.

Announcements:  Acting President Scott Manley (Pat is still out playing) took control (kind of) and got the meeting going for the few brave souls that showed up. Actually, the roads were in real good shape, no snow on them and the temperature wasn’t that bad.

Tim read a letter the Foundation received from Kim Smith (Jim Rees’s daughter), thanking them for the gift of $500 we sent them for the Cherry Creek School Systems program that helps some hearing impaired students. The money helps buy hearing aide batteries and other related equipment, along with making it possible for students to attend programs they may not normally be able to attend.

You can view Kim showing us how to “sign” the Pledge from when she was at a meeting a couple years ago.

Don gave an update as to our new web site that will allow us to sell things through our web page. The name has already been bought and after the first of the year, the women that is helping us (Karie) will get started doing the hard work of making it an “E-commerce” type of site. The address for our NEW web page is:
……..    (look familiar?) It’s the same without the hyphen between the two words. There is a test Home page there with a link to our existing web pages.

The new site will be secure and it has its own IP address, you know, the address that is a bunch of numbers which are translated to the text version of the address you normally see. For all the Geeks out there, the IP address is so if you type that string of numbers into the address line and hit Enter, it takes you to our page. Cool, right?

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:    Jack Thompson showed up for lunch so he got hooked for the roll of SOD. Jack was born in Omaha, NE in 1944 and within 3 months, the family moved to Minnesota, growing up in S. Minneapolis. His high school is now the community center. He says the only thing he did there was being on the first varsity ski team they ever had. Skiing on those little hills they had were a joke and he had to wear a mask like you paint with to stay warm and spent more time on the lift then skiing, it just didn’t cut it and after coming to Colorado to ski several times, he later was able to transfer out here with Merrill Lynch. He enjoys it so much he skis every week.

(I forgot to take a current photo)

Jack worked his way through school working at a bank and they had a Merrill Lynch office in the building so he would go and watch the stocks and buy the penny stocks and play around a little bit and ended up working for Lynch and they sent him to NY. He was a manage and was in 5 cities in 5 years and he told them he was going to Denver saying he could live here for half of what they were paying him to live in NY and after 3 months, they sent him here and Lynch was his entire career for 39 years until retiring last year. He needed something to do so he joined “us old codgers”. Jack tried to go into the Air Force right after collage but with his allergies they wouldn’t take him.

Jack has 2 children, his daughter is a teacher but enjoys going to school, working on her third degree and his son is in the Air Force and can ski circles around him. Jack again entertained us with stories of a neighbor he had, the poor guy just couldn’t do anything right and Jack was there to see it all (and sometimes to help out).
