Fines:   Someone’s phone rang during the program. Pat said he had Bezjak on the phone while Scott did the honors of inducting Chad Knoth as our newest member but Ed didn’t like the way the job was done so he was proposing a fine to Ken Kelley for poorly training Scott in the fine art of inducting.

Announcements    Several dates that will cause us to NOT HAVE A MEETING:
Dec 26th & Jan 2nd. Please don’t show up expecting to find all your friends here.

For those that know Tony Marinac of the Lodo Club, his wife passed away about 10 days ago.

Dave Miley said all is well after his hasty exit at the last meeting.

Doug has 2 Eagle Cards still available if you want to save a little dough on some future purchases.

Scott is still working on the club going to Wind Crest Living Communities for lunch in January or February. Scott visited with them for over 3 hours and learned a lot.

Tim still has “Directories”….He also pitched his wife’s sorority’s Christmas Tree tour at a private residence in Castle Rock as a fund raising event for her sorority. Dec. 14th from noon to 4pm at a cost of $10. See Tim if interested, he will have tickets next week.

“The King” kept it very short (well, kinda). He did reminded us of the upcoming Club Christmas Party to be held at the Buell Mansion (again) on Dec. 13th and the cost has gone up to $49.50 per person BUT, last week the Board voted to cover $10 of that cost so it’s now $79 per couple. It is a BYOB event but DON’T BRING RED WINE or you will have to pull up the very expensive carpet. The event starts at 6pm for drinkies. Orian will provide the mixes for you. 7pm is eaties time. You need to get The King paid asap (and don’t pay Rees).

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:   Our regularly scheduled SOD, Robert (Bob) Buckland, graciously stepped aside so our newest member, Chad Knoth, could be inducted and given some time to introduce himself to the club.

Chad grew up in Kansas City for 19 years, then moved to Denver to attend DU to learn about Real Estate and Finance and has been in the field ever since. His company, Excell Fund Brokerage, L.L.C., does commercial leasing, sales and development. One of Chad’s duties are entitlements and project management for development projects. He works with the city and oversees the developments at the project sites. In his free time, he is on the planning and zoning commission for the city of Englewood among other things.

Chad has been married to his wife Angela since 2008 (she spoke to us on Jan 21, 2010, she is a Clinical Social worker at Ft. Logan) and they have 2 children, both boys, one will be 3 years old in Feb. and the other is 7 months. Chad’s high school is still standing and he had no military experience.

Program:  Jim Perkins introduced Walter Davis, former NBA All Star. Jim said he wheeled over to Walter one day while they were in a restaurant and asked Walter if he would be a speaker at our club and Walter was glad to do so, it kind of fits into one of the things he does now that he is retired from actively playing basket ball.

Walter Davis.JPG

Walter Paul Davis (born September 9, 1954, in Pineville, North Carolina) is a retired American basketball player. A 6'6" forward/guard, Davis spent 15 years in the National Basketball Association, spending the bulk of those years with the Phoenix Suns.

Davis was the youngest of 14 children born between 1937 and 1954. His high school teams at South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte won three state titles, and only lost four games. As a standout college player at the University of North Carolina, he was selected to play on the USA men's basketball team coached by UNC's Dean Smith that won the gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics. In his freshman year, Davis hit a buzzer-beating jump shot against Duke at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. At Chapel Hill, Davis was called "Sweet D" because of his seemingly effortless, smooth style of play and because of his strong defensive play.
