This weeks Reporter- Don Smith

Guests:  None today, Bryn was in the mountains so the Rev. was solo today.

Fines:   Scott was fined by Randy but then it was noticed that Randy didn’t have his badge on so he too was fined. A cell phone went off, not sure if the owner was caught or not.

Announcements    I guess all those years of watching the Broncos play must have paid off because Rick Campbell won the pot again. Rick guessed a total score of 50 and the actual score was 51 (almost all of that was Seattle’s). $305 was raised out of the three games and that money went into Sponsoship.

Rick Jacobus says if you change your mind and want to attend the Freedom Week lunch, let him know, he might be able to sqeeze you in. Arrive a little early to register and lunch is served at 11:30am. Event this year is at Pinehurst C.C. 6255 W. Quincy Ave., Denver.

Scott has us going to Wind Crest Living Communities for lunch on February 20th. He says wives would be welcome also so contact Scott if you want to take your bride. There is still room for a couple more. Directions will be given next week.

Denver area Sertoma clubs are hosting the Celebrate Sound Don’t Walk in Silence walk May 17th and Scott has proposed that Arapahoe club help sponsore the event. More to follow but here is the web site for the event? http://www.mycelebratesound.org/centennial

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:   usarmy.gif

Sertoman of the Day:   The ever entertaining Doug Harder inlightened us again today as to his background and achievments. Robert Douglas Harder (alias Doug) fittingly was born on a Labor Day. Sept 22, 1937 in an oil camp in Houston, Texas, near the Rio Grande River. He didn’t stay there long enough to get tall. Doug attended grade schools in Louisiana and Missouri and the 5th through 11th grade (minus one year) in Casper, Wyoming. While in the fourth grade, he had Scarlet Fever. He finished high school in Englewood. He attended 21 schools in 20 years (slow learner?).

Doug was in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1966 and said his squad did a fabulous job of keeping the Commies out of GA. After that, he attended CU and UNC and retired as a Mortgage Broker. He has been a member of Pastor Robinson’s church, Christ Lutheran, for over 49 years and an Elder for 409 years. Shortly after the Katrina disaster, he and Pastor Robinson went down there with a disaster relief team. He said you never want to see such destruction.

Doug has been married to Carolyn since 1963 and they have 4 children and 10 grandkids and 2 great grandkids, one just a couple weeks old. Their oldest son Zach, was a member for a short time.

Doug was brought into the club by Bill Parchen in 1966 and has been president twice and has a Gold coat. He has been on the Foundation Committee and brought in abt 58 members to Sertoma. (way to go Doug)    Listen to Doug Harder.mp3

Program:   Randy Smith introduced Jim and his wife Elizabeth Moore, who came to tell us about a fairly new natural anti-inflamatory drink called Xango. www.xango.com (don’t use .org) This product is sold through the multi level marketting method.

What is XANGO Juice?
XANGO Juice is the original mangosteen dietary supplement that captures the refreshing, tangy flavor and natural color of the mangosteen fruit.

XANGO Juice’s proprietary, puree formula use the whole mangosteen fruit, from its dark reddish purple nutrient-dense rind to the white fleshy pulp – through which all of the mangosteen health benefits are delivered as nature intended.
What are xanthones?

While most people know about the antioxidant benefits of vitamins C and E, far fewer are aware of the incredibly potent antioxidant power of xanthones – found naturally in the mangosteen fruit. Xanthones are powerful phytonutrients, naturally occurring nutrients found in plants, which have won high praise from numerous scientists and researchers. Major medical institutions around the world continue to study xanthones for their potential to support long-term health.
