Who We Are & What We Do:

Who We Are; Doctors Care is a nonprofit organization.

Mission; Doctors Care provides access to affordable health care, through a coalition of health care providers, to the medically underserved in South Metro Denver.

Values; The team's values include integrity, compassion, trust, respect and positivity. Highlighted strengths are responsibility, adaptability and inclusiveness.

What We Do: We offer health care solutions

Doctors Care provides primary care and specialty services at significantly-reduced fees for eligible patients.

Newborns to 30 Year Olds – Five days a week, the onsite Doctors Care Clinic staff treats uninsured, Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus patients.

Patients Over 30 Years Old – Uninsured adults who live in Arapahoe (excluding Aurora), Douglas and Elbert counties and whose income meets our guidelines are assigned to see participating providers offsite.

In addition, Doctors Care provides mental health care for patients receiving our medical care. The organization serves as a model how to effectively combine mental and medical care to reduce hospital costs.

History:

1987 A committee of Arapahoe Medical Society physicians gathered to address the growing issue of the uninsured and lack of medical care. The committee agreed that if many physicians agreed to care for these patients, the burden of care would be lessened.

1988 Committee leader Gary VanderArk, MD founded Doctors Care and successfully signed up all 129 physicians of the Arapahoe Medical Society. By opening its door on Valentine’s Day, Doctors Care opened its heart to the uninsured desperate for medical care.

1993 The Doctors Care for Kids Clinic opened to serve newborn to 18-year-old children.

2001 Doctors Care made a commitment to find the resources in-house to treat a broader range of patients by increasing the clinic age cap to 24 years.

2005 The Doctors Care for Kids Clinic is renamed to Doctors Care Clinic to represent another increase of the age cap to 30 years old. This time, the expansion was directed at keeping young families together for their primary care needs.

Today More than 700 providers, five hospitals, and their pharmacies and labs participate to make Doctors Care successful in achieving its mission.

Dadd y, how was I born ?

A little boy goes to his father and asks ' Daddy , how was I born ?'

The father answers, 'Well, son , I guess one day you will need to find out anyway!  Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo .  Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe .  We sneaked into a secluded room, and googled each other.  There your mother agreed to a download from my memory stick .  As soon as I was ready to upload , we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall , and since it was too late to hit the delete button , nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said:

'You got Male!
