Guests:  n/a.

Fines:   Table one for having guests (they never learn). To the Sgt.-@-Arms for dereliction of duty and to John Pifer for talking (I don’t believe it).

Announcements:   We were informed today that past member Bill Kohlmeier has liver cancer and isn’t expected to live much longer. Bill was our club pastor before Jim Robinson took over the duties. We are thinking of you Bill. His email is:

Annual Dual District Leadership Conference will be held from 8:00 AM-1:30 PM on Saturday  July 14 at Piccolo’s Restaurant, 3563 S. Monaco.  The cost is $5.00 per person. At least 2 of our members plan on attending.

Tim Pollak had a good question, how does someone apply for a scholarship? Here is the answer on the Internationals web page:

Perfect Attendance Awards for the 2011-2012 year go to: Ken Kelley, Scott Manley, Dave Miley, Jim Perkins, Jim Rees and Don Smith. The perfect Attendance is calculated using the regular weekly meetings. If you miss a lunch, you can attend a Board Meeting to get credit. The type of Awards to be given out this year is being discussed as we speak.

Monday is the big day for the Golf Tournament, see Miley or Enslow for any last minute details. With the help from Bill Benton, John Elway dealership will provide a $10,000 Hole-In-One. Our four members that are golfing in that tournament are: Jack Thompson, Mike Magee, Scott Manley and Dick Mason. Dave Miley has brochures but you can also get a copy of it at the bottom of the electronic Newsletter. Ed Bezjak was instrumental in getting 14 donations for the Liquor raffle, Dick has raffle tickets for the raffle, cost is: 1 ticket = $5, 3 for $10 and 10 for $20.

A week from tomorrow, July 21st, is the Pancake Breakfast, 7:30am-9:30am at Applebee's, 5250 S. Wadsworth, Littleton. Jim Rees has tickets, they are $7 each…Jim says he needs all the help he can get on this so sell some tickets and don’t forget to volunteer at the event. This will be mentioned at next week’s lunch. Some of you guys that haven’t done much lately, this would be a good time to volunteer, the club needs more participation in these events.

Jim Rees announced that he is out of the new discount cards but can get more if you need one. The club receives 5%. Important info about the cards, don’t let your balance be zero for more than 30 days or the card becomes no good. It’s easy to reload the card, if you have any questions, talk to Rees.

As far as the format of the Newsletter, most members thought the current format was fine with one comment being that if viewed on a smart phone, it reads better the old way so I am staying with the way it is, and yes, it is easier that way. Thanks to those that replied.

Flash: This just in,

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:

Since the scheduled SOD didn’t show up, Ken Kelley stepped up to the podium and delighted us with his life story, unfortunately, since this was unplanned, he didn’t bring any goodies with him.

Ken was born in Denver around January 25, 1978, his Mother and G-Mother were also born in Denver. He attended Asbury and Lincoln Elementary, Baker Middle and South High School. Although he didn’t graduate from South, he did receive his GED. Seems he got a 1973 Plymouth and decided to drive around instead of going to school. He did attend Metro and Red Rocks but didn’t graduate there either. He met his wife, Katherine, who has attended The School of Mines and D.U. They have lived in Centennial for about 11 yrs, married 8 yrs, have a 3-1/2yr. old daughter and a dog. Ken informed us that his mother’s cousin is married to Doug Harder’s brother. Not sure what that makes Ken to Doug.

Ken has been in telemarketing, mattress sales and now has his own Allstate Insurance Agency located at the Chase building on Cherokee and Hampton, Englewood, CO 80133 and phone is 303-781-1110 He claims to be an artist, poet and music instrument player. He has no military and John Pifer brought him into the club. Ken is big on getting new blood into the club so let’s see what we can do. AND the question of the day: What river was he born near? The South Platte of course. Listen to KenKelley.mp3

Program: We didn’t have a program today because the speaker needed a projector. She will be rescheduled but it is important that when you arrange for a speaker, find out what equipment they will need. I personally find it odd that if you are going be a speaker, you don’t have your own equipment.

I (Don Smith) can furnish a computer projector and have a cable for a Windows based machine but not an Apple unless it takes the standard VGA connection. Don’t wait until the last minute to have me bring it, I may be out that morning doing other things and may not go home first before lunch.

July 19: Jill Vecchio, MD; Docs4PatientCare
July 26: Greg Romberg: Colo legislature
