SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:     usaf.gif

It was a dark and stormy night (or day) on November 18, 1934, at Porters Hospital, when Phil Grimm decided to come into the world, backwards. The Dr’s at that time weren’t real sure how to deal with this kind of birth so they needed some help. Phil attended Lincoln Elementary, Grant Jr. High and Englewood Sr. High, graduating in 1952. He then took Pre-Dental at DU for one year and participated in Air Force ROTC and dated a WAC. At about this time, he met Marlys (who had Cheerleader legs), a Dental Assistant for Phil’s Uncle and in the late 50’s, they were married. They have been married about 57 years, have 3 kids and 4 grand kids. He was brought into the club by Bill Anderson and Bill Parchen. In 2002/2003, Phil was the club President after going through most of the chairs.

Phil started his working career doing summer jobs like building a house, shoveling up to 20 tons of manure a day and buffing cars. In 1957 he went into the sign .      Listen to Phil Grimm.mp3

Program:  Randy Smith introduced Jeanette Going who came today to tell us about Jeremy Bloom's Wish of a Lifetime program.    Their mission is to inspire an entire generation and to create a cultural shift on how we view aging.  Our belief is that growing older doesn’t mean you have to stop dreaming and living a life of purpose.  By granting lifelong wishes to seniors who have overcome tremendous challenges in their own lives, our foundation is able to spread its inspirational stories of hope.

My name is Jeremy Bloom and I am the Founder of Jeremy Bloom's Wish of a Lifetime Foundation (JBWOL).  For many years I have wanted to start a foundation that would change the lives of others forever.  I wanted this foundation to be known for its purpose and impact on others.  It was with tremendous honor to name my foundation after my own eighty three year old inspirational grandmother.

JBWOL Foundation is built on the premise that senior citizens should be respected, honored and aided in our society.  They have given a lifetime of service, wisdom and most of all love to their community and families.  It's not hard to see the challenges that seniors face on a daily basis.  This Foundation will make lifelong dreams come true to seniors.  I believe many people regrettably move on from this world with unfilled dreams.   I have been very fortunate in my own life to have had the ability and the resources to chase every dream that I have ever imagined and I am delighted to start a foundation that will help others do the same.

I would like to invite each and every one of you to join us in our efforts. Become a corporate sponsor, individual donor or a volunteer. With your help, we can have a profound impact on many well deserving lives.   720-889-2029                          Listen to Jeanette Going.mp3
