Announcements:   Sad to report that Nick Morrone passed away this week. No news on when services will be held. Keep Nina and the family in your prayers.

We have a check and application for Jim Britton, this will be his first publication. Way to go Norm.

The annual Bill Parchen Tournament will be June 22 this year at Raccoon Creek. First Tee time is 12:48pm. So far there are 4 foursomes. Some of the Parchen family will also make up a 5th foursome following the club players, they wanted to participate and we are glad to have them.

Installation Banquet is set for Friday, June 25th at Red Rocks CC. $25 per person and club will make up the difference. 6pm with dinner at 7pm. IF YOU HAVE EXTRA PINS LAYING AROUND, PLEASE GIVE THEM TO GUS SO THE CLUB DOESN’T HAVE TO BUY MORE, THEY ARE PRETTY EXPENSIVE. How many perfect attendance pins do you really need?

McKim gave a final total for the Poker night: $5,197 to the club. That’s some good money.

Will Martinez has King Soopers coupons. The club receives 5% but only 4 people regularly use the service. The card is like a debit card so it’s easy to use.

Joe (Herman) Geers was born at home to immigrant German parents on Dec. 7th, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri, on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River. Joe attended Parochial schools and they are still standing but the High school was sold off several years ago. Joe went to the Missouri School of Mines with a degree in petroleum engineering and also a Master of Business Administration degree from St Louis Univ..

Joe had an Army ROTC commission and went to Ft. Belvore, VA where he went to engineering school. Joe received orders to go to Korea but was assigned to the Air Force and served with the Army Corp of Engineers. He bounced around Wyoming, Texas and California but never made it over to Korea.

He started his civilian career with Gulf Oil in 1952 and after the Army, Proctor and Gamble. In 1961 he was employed by Johns Manville. In their employment, he lived in New York and California. They transferred him to Colorado in 1970. He Started a manufacture's rep business in 1980 and retired in 1995. Joe is now on his third kidney, first one in 1986.

Joe has been married to Shirley since 1952. They have 6 daughters, 5 of which live close by and a Son-in-law who has gone to Iraq several times. They also have about 13 grandkids. Several noteworthy grandchildren are Jim Hnida, a budding stage talent at Chatfield High School and Katie Hnida, the only female to score points as a big 12 football player. Their father is Dr. Dave Hnida on Channel 4 TV. Fred Downs brought Joe into the club 25 years ago.

Asa is a very ethical leader with a focus on creating an honest workplace. He believes in treating employees with respect to motivate them towards optimum performance.

He has consulted with various companies to develop business and financial strategies as they relate to company transformation. Asa’s previous experience includes positions of VP Operations, VP Procurement Systems, CEO, President, Division GM, and CFO at McGraw Hill, Qwest Communication, Applied Business Systems, and Vector/Night Owl Security. He has performed acquisitions of many companies with the associated due diligence and appropriate financing. Asa is a Licensed CPA, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and current member of the Project Management Institute, Colorado MileHI Chapter, and the American and Colorado Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. Memberships also include Turn Around Management Association, Financial Executives International, and Rotary International. He enjoys biking and mentors graduate students at the University of Denver.        (303) 459-4870
