This weeks Reporter- Don Smith

news_l3.gif   Dave Miley      Dick laskey   news_l5.gif     Rev. Robinson

Guests:   Jim Robinson introduced his LSC Linda Quayle: Tim introduced Gregory Anderson from the Greater Park Hill club and he came today to pitch their 30th Anniversary as a club and the Spring jazz Gala (see flyer) and did you know that Arapahoe Sertoma Chartered them back in 1985?

Fines:   Randy Smith fined Norm for advertising “brick laying” and Bruce for being a “pussy Dr.”…$1.00 each passed: Bill fined Randy for not getting our Program into the head of the food line….passed (and Randy was rather quiet after that).

Video of the Day: Okay all you exercise nuts, if you use a treadmill, you HAVE to do it this way (just don’t throw anything out of whack, we don’t want you to go to the hospital)

Announcements:   Our Service to Mankind nominee is Doug Jackson, CEO of Project CURE and he will be our Program April 16th.

Mike Magee is our Sertoman of the Year winner this time (I think Scott said Service to Mankind).

Dave Miley mentioned a fund raising event at the Littleton Town Hall Arts Center April 1st. $50ea with a meal. The play is Wonderettess and you can see Dave for more info.

Doug thinks he has been forgotten since he hasn’t heard any more on a Pancake feed.

Pat KcKim – The poker party will be held April 23rd and should be bigger and better with a new venue and without a partner, that way we keep all the profits. Price will be $65 again and Pat will have tickets maybe in a couple weeks. The event will take place possibly at the Elks club. More details later but start rounding up prospective players. Beer and Wine – cash bar – with a light appetizer type meal included.

Tim mentioned the upcoming Walk in Silence May 17th and also, during the Sertoma Promotion Club meeting, it was mention that volunteers are needed for the Soap Box Derby.

As a reminder, you can get caught up with what happened at the last Board Meeting by clicking the “Board” icon in the upper right corner of the Newsletter.

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:  Chad Knoth, our newest and youngest member, was born in 1980 and grew up in Kansas City, MO for 19 years, then moved to Denver to attend DU – Daniels College of Business to learn about Real Estate and Finance and has been in the field ever since. His company, Coldwell Banker Commercial, does commercial leasing, sales and development. One of Chad’s duties are entitlements and project management for development projects. He works with the city and oversees the developments at the project sites. In his free time, he is on the planning and zoning commission for the city of Englewood among other things. (See his Linkedin page)

Chad has been married to his wife Angila since 2008 (she spoke to us on Jan 21, 2010, she is a Clinical Social worker at Ft. Logan) and they have 2 children, both boys, one 4 years old in Feb. and the other is 2. Chad’s high school is still standing and he had no military experience. Chad lives behind and was brought into the club by Doug Harder. Listen to Chad Knoth.mp3

Program:  Randy Smith introduced Storyteller, keynote speaker and author Robert Case. Robert’s checkered past includes balancing fatherhood with careers in two very different technical fields. Out of college he became an earth scientist. Many years later, he practiced law. He knows what it’s like to work in a demanding environment. Along the way he encountered layoff, depression, and divorce. Inspired by the beauty, legends, and myth of ancient Greece, Robert overcame these conditions to become an expert at managing change and aging well. Today, he writes, delivers keynotes, and tells stories about the search for happiness, the power of commitment, and the wisdom and beauty of ancient Greece.

Robert has performed on “The Story Project” for Radio KRCC 91.5 FM. His latest book, Icarus and the Wing Builder, is a page-turning work of mythological fiction about an ordinary man who discovers direction and purpose while overcoming adversity. As a speaker, he educates, entertains and inspires audiences all over the world to find their own voice and take action, to extend their reach beyond their grasp and in the direction of their dreams.        Listen to Robert Case.mp3
