Mabe would like to give all his time to the guest for the day. (he wont get off that easy)

The inimitable MABE DOWNEY was born and raised in Alabama and Tennessee. He came to Colorado in 1944 and his family bought a house in Englewood for $2,600, which house is today worth $194,000. Mabe noted the changes in several other real estate transactions based on mid-century values. Mabe joined a magicians club and demonstrated several tricks such as the "viagra rope trick" and the flaming wallet trick. Mabe is currently single, but perhaps the magic lamp trick might provide him with a future companion.

Program: Presented by the illustrious Mabe Downey.

In 1990 our guest's sister was murdered. This event caused him to write a book titled “Bodies in the Bay”. He finished the book in 1997 and it was published in 2000. Please give a warm welcome to Mason Ramsey.

The story is about a mother and two daughters who took a trip to Florida and had they done anything differently, they would not have wound up in a terrible set of circumstances.

The true to life killer was Oba Chandler. He is currently on death row in Florida.

The fascination is how someone, who was a complete stranger, could get you to go on a sunset cruise, and then brutally rape murder them, they were thrown overboard. The book is a fictional account of the circumstances behind his sister's murder. Mason also noted that the TV show, Cold Case, aired a show based on his book without Mason’s approval. He contacted them and they wanted him to sign a release and they would stop mentioning the name of the book. He declined to sign the release.

Mason has a web site: www.rockandrollheaven.net His music on the net is listened to all over the world.

Movie review:

THAT'S HOW THE COW ATE THE CABBAGE - "An expression to indicate the speaker is laying it on the line, telling it like it is, getting down to brass tacks - with the connotation of telling someone what he or she needs to know but probably doesn't want to hear. According to Little Rock attorney Alston Jennings, who submitted this southernism to Richard Allen's February 2, 1991, 'Our Town' column in the Arkansas Gazette, the expression has its roots in a story about an elephant that escaped from the zoo and wandered into a woman's cabbage patch. The woman observed the elephant pulling up her cabbages with its trunk and eating them. She called the police to report that there was a cow in her cabbage patch pulling up cabbages with its tail. When the surprised police officer inquired as to what the cow was doing with the cabbages, the woman replied, 'You wouldn't believe me if I told you!'" From "Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins" by Robert Hendrickson (Fact on File, New York, 1997)

Are you a Democrat, Republican or Southerner? Here is a little test that will help you decide.
The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a Colt .45 auto, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
Democrat's Answer:

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor! Or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about th e kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so con fusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
Republican's Answer:

Southerner's Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click...(sounds of reloading).
Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Hollow Points?
Son: Can I shoot the next one?
Wife: You ain't taking that to the Taxidermist!

Bureaucratic madness:
We have all at some time been caught up in the red tape that permeates our daily lives, and it seems that those who govern and control our lives are determined to infiltrate every aspect of it with an ever increasing intensity. Here’s something to ponder. The Lord’s Prayer has 66 words. The Ten Commandments contain a total of 179 words. The Gettysburg address runs to 286 words, but the European Union’s directive on the sale of cabbages contains 26,253 words! My first reaction was to smile at the absurdity of it, but it really isn’t that funny.
