Quote of the day:“The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin” Mark Twain

Guests:   none

Fines: none

Bingo:    The extra game for April is off. The organization that normally does it is now able to handle it but we could always have a chance in the future. Thanks to those that signed up.

Last weeks income was $5500 with about 81 players.

Tonight’s game was canceled by the club owners do to the weather. For future reference, we can cancel a session at least 1 hour before the game starts by putting a sign on the door but the club would like as much notice as possible.

Announcements:    WOW, the weather was horrible but 20 brave souls made it to lunch, along with our caterer. Since we were a bit short of members, we canceled all the pomp and pageantry of a regular meeting and just started filling our plates with spaghetti and meat balls, salad, bread and cookies. The SOD failed to show up, so did the program so we just winged it for a bit, then departed. The blizzard was still in force but maybe just a tad lighter then at the beginning of the luncheon. Things were so bad outside the even the Elks Club had suspended their normal operation.

April 18th is the Charity Car Raffle, a Saturday. Jack Marshal says this years Raffle WILL have a silent auction and door prizes. A sports memorabilia company will do the honors for a small cut of the action. Since we don’t have the license and equipment, this works out good for us.

So, we need some items for the auction and door prizes. We want to limit the quantity of the door prizes but want good quality items. We don’t want everyone donating a bottle of their favorite brew, but a good quality brew or 2 would be great. I am sure we can find other items to donate. Jim Rees has tickets and quit a few of them so we need to get them sold, time is running out.

If you want to advertise, you need to get your info in soon and the cost is $25. I think you need to contact George.

You can get copies of the Raffle invite sheet here: Raffle-Invite.pdf or contact George for copies. If you want, he will put YOUR name on it.

Bill Benton said the group had a good trip to Blackhawk last week with about 34 people going. Slightly less then required but it all worked out.

It was mentioned that we contact papers like the HUB to post info about our club and Leslie said it is real easy, jus go on their web site and it’s free. (“we” means Don I guess, where is my helper when I need him?)

Regional Convention will be about the end of April 30-May 2.

19th Annual Arapahoe Sertoma Fall Classic Golf Tournament (AASFCGT) Aug 25th.

Put it on your calendar, Sept. 26th will be another morning at Applebee’s. They were booked up between now and then.

With the success of the pancake feed, let’s show our thanks to Applebee’s by dinning there often and be sure to thank them so they know WHO WE ARE that’s eating there. The location for those that couldn’t make it: 5250 S. Wadsworth, Denver.

Leslie contributed to the Raffle so I thought I would include their NEW web page header.

The evolution of robbery

Why go to Church? (This is good)

If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope!

Why Go To Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. 'I've gone for 30 years now,' he wrote, 'and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.'

This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

'I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!' When you are DOWN to nothing... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

All right, now that you're done reading, send it on! I think everyone should read this! 'When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, 'Jesus, could you get that for me?'
