THIS WEEK IN REVIEW ....March 30, 2006
This weeks Reporter-Carl Duncan

Jacobus   Schlageter      Rev. Robinson

GUESTS: Joe Dowdey introduced his daughter JESSICA DOWDEY and was promptly fined for subjecting his daughter to this "motley crew". Carl Duncan announced that his guest, STERLING CAIN, has completed an application for membership. Pursuant to the club by-laws, you are herewith informed that any objections to Cain's membership must be submitted to the Board on or before the May board meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: On behalf of Jim Rees, George Hannes polled the club for raffle tickets that have as yet not been sold. BE ON NOTICE that if you must sell the tickets and turn in the cash. If you have unsold tickets, other club members may be able to use them. DO NOT WAIT until the last minute to turn your tickets into cash. Also, keep the door prizes coming to Tim Pollak. April 22 will get here faster than you think, so act now.

Incidentally it was noted that Bill "Coshise" Benton took advantage of the funds raised for his haircut. There was some question as to whether the amount raised was enough to cover the cut plus the tip.

BINGO is on hold for now. The club has considered three different locations and was ready to start at Slammers at Jewell and Wadsworth on Wednesday night, but that opening was retracted. The Elks Club has declined the use of their facility and the Green Mountain location did not appear to be a profitable location. It is regrettable that the club might have to abandon Bingo as a fund raiser, since we already have an inventory of supplies and organized teams that are ready to spring into action at a moments notice.

Doug Harder has recovered from being born in Houston Texas as a middle child. He attended CU and UNC and currently mows the greens on the back nine at Racoon Creek. He noted that Ed Bezjak takes care of the front nine. Other notable achievements include not only having 9 grandchildren, but also being able to remember their names. The "Flying
Five" went to Bob Stein.

PROGRAM: Alexa Gromko, former news anchor for channel 31, was our speaker.
Currently she is the Public Relations spokesperson for AAA. Although triple A offers a wide variety of services to motorist, the most frequent calls today relate to the price of gasoline at the pump. Although current prices are not that much out of line when adjusted for inflation, the public is very concerned by sudden increases such as the 25 cent jump this
past week. She reported that the main cause for that increase is the change over form Winter to Summer mixtures. This disrupts supplies while refineries close part of their facilities in order to make the conversion.

Other factors that have caused supplies of gasoline to fluctuate are natural disasters such as Katrina and Rita. Present predictions are that the price of gas will continue to increase.

"Raffle" 2006 Tickets are NOT available?
This year's RAFFLE is being held at Columbine Country Club on Saturday Aril 22nd. The festivities start at 5:30 PM with cocktails (Cash Bar). Also, at 5:30 is a Silent Auction put on by The American Red Cross for the benefit of the Red Cross and it will run to 7:00 or 7:15. Dinner will be served at 7:00 with your choice of either Prime Rib or Salmon. The Raffle auction will begin at 8:00. There will be door prizes in addition to the GRAND PRIZE of $8,000 or part thereof. Ticket price is $125.00 which gets you a one chance in 200 for the $8,000 and also includes dinner for two.

If you still want to go, (or have to cancel) ask around, maybe someone will have to cancel and you can buy their tickets. Let the reporter or editor know and we will post it here.
