Guests:  Rev. Robinson introduced his LSC Vicky Oren.

Fines:  n/a this week

Announcements:  Dean Hiss made an appearance today and is looking great. He still hasn’t gotten his diabetes problems worked out but it is good to see him again. Thanks to Mike Magee for picking Dean up and I believe Scott is taking him back.

Dick Mason reported the reason Ed Bezjak wasn’t at lunch was that his wife is in the hospital and Ed spent the night there with her. We are all wishing her the best.

Scott Manley is pitching the upcoming A-1 Raffle. Last years winner was Pat McKim and he is enjoying his winnings at this time. For those that are volunteering, be sure to show up and thanks for your time.

The Past President’s meeting was held yesterday and we still need a volunteer to be the next President and a secretary. If you haven’t held an office in some time, maybe it’s about time to jump in.

Dave Miley pitched the upcoming Veterans Monument Dedication on May 24th at 2pm at Englewood School campus 3800 So. Logan, Englewood The Douglas Co. Young Marines and the Joe Peterson Orchestra with be intertaining the crowd.

Pat McKim – Pat has tickets for The poker party which will be held Tuesday, May 19th from 6-12pm at the Elks club. Price will be $65 again. Start rounding up prospective players. Beer and Wine – cash bar – with a light dinner included.
Some information on how to play is at:

Pat stressed the need to come up with 160 players for maximum returns given this is about our only income. Checks made out to Arapahoe Sertoma or CASH.

Orian had more information on the upcoming Induction (Intimidation) Banquet at Red Rocks CC to be held June 12th. Clink the highlighted text for more info. The Board did vote to off set some of the dinner cost so what is your excuse for not going?

Those 12 that signed up for the Pine Hurst Golf Tournament July 13th will have to wait until the Board votes on paying for a 4-some either next week or the regular scheduled meeting in 2 weeks.

It was mentioned at the Board meeting that there are a couple members that owe on their dues. If your not paid up, please take care of it at your earliest convenience.

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:     Do to a report about the Past President’s meeting results, and the Program, we did not have an SOD this week so that means that Dick Mason is pushed out another week. Don’t worry, we will get him up there sometime and with all the extra time he has had to prepare, it should be one fantastic Bio.

Program:  John Vierthaler couldn’t make it so he had Dave Miley introduce Lindsey Ganassa and her service dog CarGo. (To bad you were not here Pat, she is cute and a very good speaker).

Freedom Service Dogs was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization by Michael and PJ Roche. Both Mike and PJ were active with Assistance Dogs International (ADI) when the assistance dog industry was just developing. The Roche’s worked diligently to transform FSD from a small, two person organization to one of the leading service dog training organizations in the country.

In early 2009, in recognition of the increasing number of “wounded warriors” that were returning from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, FSD launched Operation Freedom, a focused initiative identifying deserving disabled veterans and matching them with a trained service dog companion.

FSD has graduated over 350 client/dog teams. Each and every year, we rescue over 100 dogs in partnership with shelters and rescues in Colorado and surrounding states. Those that are released from the program are adopted out into forever homes.        Listen to Lindsey Ganassa.mp3
