Guests:   Rev. Robinson introduced Bryn Boyer.

Fines:   To Rev. Robinson for a lame introduction of his guest, Bryn. The “King” for not know the difference between giving an announcement and being the program. (it was commented that if BS was music, Orian would be a brass band).

Announcements:   Peter Pauwels was AWOL and may be for some time from what I hear. He is fishing this time.

Just noticed that July 4th falls on a Thursday, SO, will there be a meeting or not?

Orian, representing the “Social Committee” gave us some more information on the up-coming “Installation Banquet” to be held at Red Rocks Country Club, June 28th. Drinkies start at 5pm and Eaties start at 6pm. Price per person is $22 (your saving $9 each because the club is picking that up). We would like to have at least 40 sign up, you can bring a guest, your wife etc.

Scott Manley gave to totals for the A-1 Scuba raffle and they were: $6,700 BUT THEN, a generous donor wrote a check for another $5,000 so the total (for those that are mathematically challenged) was $11,700.

Tim Pollak is trying to get enough helpers to man our Lemonade & Snow Cone Stand at this years Soap Box Derby on June 8th & 9th, to be held at the Arapahoe Co. Fairgrounds (the old Horse Park). 25690 E Quincy Ave., Aurora, CO (East of E470 on Quincy approx 1/2 mile and then south approximately 1/2 mile.) A signup sheet was passed around. Tim promised a map next week.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:  Since the one and only Rev. Robinson botched the introduction of his guest, she was pressured into giving us her life story (she is a lot younger then the membership so it didn’t take very long). Bryn attends the meetings to support Jim.

She was born in Washington, D.C. She wasn’t sure about the rivers in the area but did know that she had NO military service. She moved from DC to live in San Francisco, finished school in Santa Fe and about 3 years ago, moved to Denver. She is married, her husband is an electrician and she helps him with his business and works part time with Jim. If that wasn’t enough, she has a son, Charlie, who is 16 months old. Her high school is still standing, T.C. Williams High School located in Alexandria, Virginia (the Titans). There was a movie “Remember the Titans”, that was her school.

She got into her current career field after realizing that Art wouldn’t be a very viable career for her. She did get into art therapy and did some psychology social work and with traumatic brain injury survivors. When asked what she does for Jim that he can’t do for himself, she said mostly drive him around and she takes him to the rec center to work out and yoga. By keeping him busy, she is hoping to keep him alive longer.

And since Bryn stood in for the regularly scheduled SOD, Scott will be front and center next week. She was shocked when asked if she had $5 (don’t know who was so low to ask that but Carl offered to pay). Listen to Bryn Boyer.mp3

Program:  Doug Harder introduced Kirk Mitchell of the Denver Post. Kirk reports on Cold Cases from around the area and has also written a book “The Spin Doctor”, about a Denver wanted man has become media celebrity in Argentina. You can read a little about here:

Kirk Mitchell is a general assignment reporter at The Denver Post who focuses on criminal justice stories. He began working at the newspaper in 1998, after writing for newspapers in Mesa, Ariz., and Twin Falls, Idaho, and The Associated Press in Salt Lake City. Mitchell first started writing the Cold Case blog in Fall 2007, in part because Colorado has more than 1,400 unsolved homicides.          Liston to Kirk Mitchell.mp3
