news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:    Bob (massage parlor inspector) Schlageter was born in 1942. He went all through the Englewood school system & graduated in 1960. Then he went to Colorado State University & about halfway through he decided he should have some military experience so he enlisted in the Colorado National Guard. Bob was in the 140th Combat Signal Battalion and help guard bridges during the flood of 1965. Bob went to boot camp at Fort Ord, Calif. After that he was sent to Fort Irwin, Calif. This is a tank training facility in the middle of the Mojave Desert. After that he went back to C.S.U. & graduated with a degree in biological science. Later he got a master’s degree from the University of Colorado (Denver Center) in Urban Affairs.

After graduating from C.S.U. he took a job with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture as an inspector of fruits & vegetables. Then he was sent back to Calif. Bob lived in several different cities while e was in Calif. He started in San Jose and was also in Watsonville, Gilroy, Salinas, & Santa Cruz. He was there about 3 years. Then he came back to Colorado in 1968. he took a job with the Denver Health Dept. He was there for 39 years. He inspected restaurants, & all types of food facilities, swimming pools, foster homes, massage parlors, & for several years he also investigated housing complaints. Bob retired in 2007.

Some of you have met Ginny. Bob has been hanging around with her for over 40 years. Bob has 2 step children – Jim & Tammy. Bob has been chairman of the ways & means committee, the incentives committee & in charge of attendance twice. He is now the Sgt. At Arms. Bob was brought into the club by the magical Mabe Downey in 2003. The nearest major river is the Platte. Listen to Bob Schlageter

Program:   The TSA bailed out again. NO PROGRAM

Randy had a couple items to mention: One is that if there is a program the day you are the SOD, keep your presentation SHORT. Some of us are running into the time alotted to the Program. If there is no program as was the case today, please, think of something, anything.......to stretch out your talk. You can sing, dance....do magic tricks, talk about your last trip.

And Randy wanted to remind everyone that if you have any ideas for programs, tell one of the Program guys or you can go on our Spread Sheet on the internet and see what dates are open and enter your program yourself. Just go to:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1o0vM4tVEqQWtW8RM_E9har7BcjWVJ1UX51znYWs5t00/edit?pli=1#gid=0 and see what’s open. I suggest that after you have entered something in any of the blocks, move your cursor to an empty box and click in that box. That will make sure that your entry has been saved.

Since there was no program, here is a little filler information that might be of interest to you.
One member today said he forgot his e-mail password and asked if I could help him. If you have forgotten your password, about the only thing you can do is contact your e-mail provider and see if they can help. If they can, they will ask some vital questions to verify you are who you say you are. WRITE DOWN YOUR PASSWORDS NOW---ALL OF THEM and save them in a safe place. If you use a password program, make a copy of the list and save it someplace other than on the computer you have the program on.

Another member was having trouble sending me an e-mail this afternoon. First see if you can get on the internet, if you can that means your equipment is working fine. If it’s just the e-mail that is not working, it could be your providers e-mail server is down. You can either contact them or just wait a while. The other day my whole internet was down because Comcast had an outage.

If you use Windows as your operating system, have you upgraded to the free Windows 10 system? You have until July to get the new program FREE. After that it looks like it will cost $119. Now, you do not have to upgrade, Windows 7 and 8 will still have updates for a couple years, then Microsoft will stop supporting them. If you plan on buying a new computer soon, I would wait to upgrade because the new computer will probably come with Windows 10 already installed. If you don’t believe me on this, look at this:

Speaking of the Kim Komando web site, she has tons of good computer information (including Apple and smart phones). You can subscribe to her different newsletters free and she sends a bunch of them out. You can subscribe to them at:
https://club.komando.com/newsletters?utm_content=2016-05-03-newsletters-a&utm_medium=nl&utm_source=totd just enter your e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail back to verify your address, then To make changes to your newsletter subscription preferences, click where it says click here.
