news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:   The Cat Dr., Dr. Bruce Elsey, was greeted with a room full of “MEOWS”. He open with this: He was born on Sept 11, 1951 in Garden City, KS (five generations). Went to H.S. there and it is still standing. The river that runs through it is the Arkansas (pronounced Ar Kansas. With a draft number of 23, Bruce just missed being called into the service in the early 70’s because Viet Nam was winding down and Saigon fell.

Bruce married Kathleen in 1976 and graduated from Vet school in 1977. They have twin sons born in 1982 and graduated from KS St. They are both married now and so far there are 3 grandkids. Bruce now owns the cat clinic but is semi-retired and sells cat litter.
He mentioned Garden City had the largest outdoor concrete swimming pool that was free until they added things like a slide and now charge to use the facility.

The cat liter business is doing good with a new facility in the works to handle railroad loading/unloading (from the BNSF of course).

Significant dates in the life of DR BUCE ELSEY, DVM are as follows:

Program:    Doug Harder introduced Curt Craft who works at a prison in Hudson, CO.

The Denver Post Posted: 11/13/2009
About 800 Alaskan prisoners will be transported from a private prison in Arizona to a new, privately run prison in Hudson beginning around Thanksgiving, officials say.

The $90 million medium-security prison, called the Hudson Correctional Facility, was built by Cornell Companies Inc., which has hired 216 people to work there.

The prison, which is 30 miles northeast of Denver, has room for 1,250 inmates and could eventually expand to 4,000 beds. It will house only Alaskan prisoners initially.

Cornell, which is based in Houston and runs 11 private prisons, will eventually bring other inmates from across the country to the Hudson prison, said Charles Seigel, a spokesman for Cornell.

The private prison company already operates the High Plains Correctional Facility in Brush for Colorado female prisoners and a juvenile facility in Cañon City.

The company signed a contract with the Alaska Department of Corrections in August to bring the inmates to Colorado, Seigel said.
