Guests:  Chad Knoth, guest of Doug Harder but is now a new member. Welcome Chad.
Rev. Robinson also introduced Bryn Boyer, his LSC.

Fines:   Between phones ringing off the hook and blatant advertising, I couldn’t keep up with who all got fined.

Announcements    Several dates that will cause us to NOT HAVE A MEETING:
Nov. 28th, Dec 26th & Jan 2nd. Please don’t show up expecting to find all your friends here.

Scott is still working on the club going to Wind Crest Living Communities for lunch in January.

Ken Kelley was supposed to deliver the Pies today but he had a bit of a problem with his car and the bad road conditions. He is okay but the pies did not get delivered…..He will contact all that ordered one.

Since Ken didn’t show up, he had Tim mention that Ken filled in for Tim for the Celebrate Sound Walk meeting. The walk is scheduled for May 2014 and the proceeds go to the Littleton Theater (if my research is correct, it is called Town Hall Arts Center). Sponsors are needed.

Tim also pitched his wife’s sorority’s Christmas Tree tour at a private residence in Castle Rock as a fund raising event for her sorority. Dec. 14th from noon to 4pm at a cost of $10. See Tim if interested.

“The King” kept it very short again today, not sure what’s going on with him. He did reminded us of the upcoming Club Christmas Party to be held at the Buell Mansion (again) on Dec. 13th and the cost has gone up to $49.50 per person BUT, last week the Board voted to cover $10 of that cost so it’s now $79 per couple. It is a BYOB event but DON’T BRING RED WINE or you will have to pull up the very expensive carpet. The event starts at 6pm for drinkies. Orian will provide the mixes for you. 7pm is eaties time.

Jeffco Sertoma Poinsettias can be ordered now, write to
Lids for Kids Hat & Mitt Drive, call Mary Hewett at 303 798-9291

Birthday announcement is for Orian Hunter and Bob Gallagher.

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

If you think you are the SOD more than once a year, you are correct. With only 36 active members of the attendance list, you get to remind us more often about your life’s achievements. If you don’t want to be the SOD so often, I guess we need to get more members.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:   Rick Campbell was born in Geneva, Illinois in 1953. Grew up in Illinois, went to High School at Glenbard West at Hilltop, it is still standing. Served in the military for 2 weeks, he was number 5 in the draft. Two weeks prior to reporting for basic, Nixon called off the draft but he did get inducted into the Army. Rick went on to College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Il. Started as an electrical engineer, but did not like the number crunching as much as fixing cars.

Rick went to college for a year. He came out to Colorado on a ski vacation and enjoyed walking around in a tee shirt in the middle of winter (1973) and decided to come out and stay permanently. He had met Renee when he was in High School, they started dating during college and she came along when Rick moved west in 1974. They have been happily married for 36 years and they have 3 girls. The eldest of his daughters is a teacher at Ft. Logan Elementary. The middle child is a nurse at Porter. The youngest is a homemaker due to the recently arrival of twins. Rick and Renee now have 7 grand kids. One of the grand kids was born on 5-5-05.

Rick runs an auto collision repair service (Auto Body & Frame Clinic of Colorado) which he opened in 1979 and it’s close to the Elks' club (which is convenient because of the poor driving abilities of the club). His dad was in the auto body parts business. He gave Rick a beat up car and told him by the time you get it all fixed up, you will be old enough to drive it. Dr. Tim brought Rick into the club and he has held several chairs including President & Chairman of the Board. Listen to RickCampbell.mp3

Program:   Tim Pollak introduced Richard Driscoll, Ph.D. Mr. Driscoll wrote a book called “You still Don’t Understand”, Troublesome Differences between Men and Women *and How to Resolve Them*.

Unequal in arguments
While we might expect men to be more forceful than women in marital arguments, the research shows just the opposite, surprising our expectations. Women tend to be more insistent, according to various researchers including John Gottman [i] at the University of Washington. Women argue more in almost half again as many marriages as men.
