Norm gave an update on Bob Stein saying Bob has had a rough time with all his medical problems but is home now so give him a call.

Gary reported Jack Marshall had some medical problems so give him a buzz also.

Pat mentioned a fund raising event for Second Wind Fund on Tuesday, Dec. 5th. You can go on-line to donate or attend an event at Great Frontier Brewing Co. 2010 S. Oak St., Lakewood 4pm – 8pm free to attend, pizza and drinks available for purchase. This is in conjunction with Colorado Gives Day.

Rick Jacobus handed out the essay’s to the 5 readers that volunteered. We have 7 schools we will be hosting for this year’s Freedom Week lunch that will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Pine Hurst CC. There will NOT be a regular lunch that Thursday.

Orian announced he has a sign-up sheet being passed around for the up-coming Christmas Party Sunday, Dec. 10th at Lone Tree Golf Club. Cost will be $25 per person and he is collecting money now. Orian says he has just under 40 so far and would like more to attend.

It was discussed at the Board Meeting that some of the committees and their chairman don’t know what to do or who is on the committees. This will be discussed at a meeting in the near future but we all need to be pro-active and find out what committee we are on and what it does, who the chairman is and how you can contribute to the Club. I have heard from some of you that there is a lack of interest because no one helps you or gives you guidance. Speak up if you need help or don’t know what committee you’re on, this club is about YOU so be part of it. When the current slate of Officers were being put together, some of you said you would be their 2nd in command… you remember who you are or who you are supporting?

We raffled off the left over items from the Englewood Chamber event and raised about $300. Doug did his best as an auctioneer with Jacobus and McKim helping out.

A brief Board Meeting was held after lunch to discuss donations.

Program:   Carl Duncan introduced Dr. Ted Ning Ted attended a meeting hosted by Al Gore on Global Warming, called The Climate Reality Project, and came to us today to give some details on what he learned.

Ted Ning 2017.jpg

With seas rising, global heat records falling, and storms becoming more and more devastating, the reality of climate change has never been clearer. But with clean energy solutions like wind and solar getting more affordable, batteries getting better, and buildings becoming more efficient every year, neither has the way forward.

The good news doesn’t end there. Because now, thanks to 195 countries signing the historic Paris Agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions planet-wide, the world is united in working for a safe and sustainable future with net zero carbon emissions by the second half of this century.

At Climate Reality, we’re here to ensure it gets there. We’re working to accelerate the global shift from the dirty fossil fuels driving climate change to renewables so we can power our lives and economies without destroying our planet.

But we can only do it together. That’s why we’re uniting millions from all corners of the globe and all walks of life – factory workers and farmers, teachers and taxi drivers, students and shop clerks, and more – to make our leaders honor and strengthen their commitments to climate action that they made in the Paris Agreement.

Stopping climate change is the challenge of our time. But we know how and thanks to the Paris Agreement, we have the tools to do it. The sustainable future we want is finally in our hands. And at Climate Reality, we won’t let it slip away.       Listen to Ted Ning.mp3
