Guests:    Alice Perkins-wife if Jim; John Loudermilk-friend of Bezjak and new member; Rich Hammond, friend of John Vierthaler. Joe Gomez, friend of Scott and application and money submitted, this is his first publication for membership.

Fines:  A $1 fine was imposed on our new member, John Loudermilk: The President was fined by Randy for his “most gosh awful” induction of a new member.

Announcements:  Arapahoe Sertoma can be proud of it’s Service to Mankind Award nominee, Doug Jackson of Project C.U.R.E. He won the Regional Award and now moves on to the National. I don’t have any information on when and where that is, if someone knows, please let me know.

It was brought up at the Board Meeting that we may be in need of a new Treasurer due to medical reason with our present Treasurer. This is very important so we need someone to step up and get on board with the duties. We also will be looking for new officers in a couple months so keep this in mind. Some of the current officers and committee chairmen have been doing these duties for many years, time to get some new blood or some old blood back into the job.

Bill Benton did his best at inducting our new member, John Loudermilk. After all, Bill trained himself from last year’s term as President. With each passing year, Bill should get better.

Speaking of getting new members, here is the team list from Doug: Team List.jpg Listen to Doug’s list of professions that could be members Doug.mp3

Rick Jacobus mentioned we have 8 schools lined up for the next Freedom Week event. That will mean a whole lot of essay’s that need to be read so if you are on the reading team, get you’re eye balls fine tuned and have an extra pair of reading glasses ready to go.

The club is planning a trip to the The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg on Thursday October 15. We will depart at 1:30 following lunch. Cost is “FREE” if you are 65 or older….

Saturday, Oct 24th is the Central CO. & Front Range 2015 Fall District conference/breakfast. A sign-up sheet was passed around. It will be held at the Holiday Inn in Lakewood.

Tuesday, Oct 27th is the Chamber of Commerce service club meeting so there will be NO LUNCH the 29th.

Last weeks Bronco Pool winners are: Miley x3 & Jacobus.
This weeks Pool: Broncos V Raiders:

A suggestion proposed at the Board Meeting for a club event was K1 Speed. K1 Speed is the premier go-karting company in America with kart racing centers nationwide. The event might be in February so put this on your calendar.

Jim Rees has more gift cards (King Soopers).

Remember, if you bring in a new member and he stays 6 months, you get Free Dues - per new member for a quarter.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:    The scheduled SOD (Tom Fry) gladly gave up his time (he will be up next week) so a new member could be inducted into the club. Bill Benton read the induction while Doug Harder and Ed Bezjak stood next to John Loudermilk.

John says he isn’t much of a “joiner” because of his past experience with the Moose clubs but after seeing what our club does, he decided it was time to join.

John was born in Washington DC in a hospital that was just a couple blocks from the White House and attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, MD. John is married to Maureen and has a couple sons. From 1960 to 1964 John was in the U.S. Air Force. From 1967 to 1983 John worked for the phone company in Washington DC and loved working on wires. One of his jobs was to go ahead of the President to foreign countries and install phone switchboards. His hobbies used to be golf which breaks his heart since he can’t play anymore do to medical reasons. He used to work with Ed at Raccoon Creek for many years.

Program:  Pat McKim introduced Brittani Johnson and Jonathan Tee from ACE Scholarships. Brittani is Vice President, Development and Jonathan is Chief Operating Officer for the Colorado Staff. The pair showed a slid presentation and explained the concept of ACE Scholarships and answered questions afterward.

To provide children of low-income families with scholarships to private schools in grades K-12, and to advocate for expanded school choice.

That every child will have equal access to a quality education.

ACE is a Denver, Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides partial scholarships to children in grades K-12 to attend the private school of their choice.

Since 2000, ACE Scholarships has provided more than 15,000 scholarships worth more than $25 million in Colorado. We currently have hundreds of families hoping to receive a scholarship and there are thousands of empty seats in our Colorado partner schools waiting to be filled.      Listen to Brittani & Jonathan.mp3
