Quote of the Day:    “The secret of a good speech is to have a good beginning and a good ending; and have the two as close together as possible”. George Burns

Guests:     Jill and Margot from the Center for Speech and Hearing. Jill accepted a check from the club and also mentioned that this is the Center’s 90 th anniversary, starting in 1918.

The Center for Hearing, Speech & Language (CHSL) is a unique 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and member of two United Way organizations. We have been providing services in Denver, Colorado since 1918 and began offering hearing services in Colorado Springs in the early '70's. Our professional staff of audiologists, speech pathologists and therapists provide quality hearing, vision, speech and language services for people of all ages, including those who are unable to pay. We also offer a wide variety of cutting-edge communication therapy services and well-respected literacy projects for children and adults. Our statewide mobile hearing conservation program, serving Colorado's manufacturing and business community, goes right back into our charitable services that moderate- to low-income familes in Denver and Colorado Springs have come to rely upon. http://chsl.org/

Carl brought Doug Moran, his 2nd time here.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Dick Mason (Life Member), born 11/12/34 (per the roster) in Quincy, Ill. The Mississippi River was next to his hometown. Three High Schools in town and he didn't graduate from any of them, he even tried to go to the all girls school.

After being suspended from high school one to many times, he joined the Marine Corp. While in the Marines, he received his GED. Dick served almost four years and was an E-5 when discharged. He has a trip to Viet Nam and Hawaii on his military resume.

After getting out of the service, Dick married JoAnn (they just celebrated their 40 th with a trip to Costa Rico). He worked a little, then went back to Glendale Community College in Phoenix, where he graduated and then got a scholarship to DU. That plus the GI bill and his hard work got him through school by March of '72. Now a CPA (that does not stand for Cleaning, Pressing & Alterations), his firm was acquired and he has moved on to bigger and better things.

The Mason’s have three kids, sons Brian and Brandt, along with daughter Brandy. There is one Grandkid and he lives in California. Rick Jacobus brought Dick into the club about 20 years ago and he has served in a number of offices and is a Past President.

Program:  Bill Benton introduced a long time acquaintance, Derek Handley from Water 2 Wine. Derek went to Littleton High, then to DU. He worked in the private sector for over 12 years in the “IT” field and traveled an awful lot, got married and had a daughter. He wanted to stay home with his wife and new daughter so he learned the art of wine making in Texas and started his own company here in Centennial.

Water 2 Wine transcends the mundane and often pricey “wine store” selections, and instead allows you to create your own exquisite wine experience. Water 2 Wine is an actual operating winery where all our wines are fermented on site! They buy grapes from only the finest vineyards and the world. Although you may never travel completely around the world, at Water 2 Wine, your taste buds sure can. With access to more than 100 wines from 13 countries, wine tasting is a daily pleasure at Water 2 Wine. Everything, yes everything, is available for tasting.

Water 2 Wine offers wine by the glass, by the bottle, or they invite you to put on an apron and get involved creating your own custom batch of wine (28-30 bottles) complete with your own custom label. It’s less work than you might think, a ton of fun, and surprisingly affordable. Your custom vintage with you own distinctive label makes a unique and memorable gift. Stop by for a free tasting. “wine” down from a dong day with a glass of wine, or celebrate your next special occasion or event at Water 2 Wine.

That Obama sex tape e-mail you might have received? Don't open it.

The e-mail, titled "Barack Obama sex story with girls," seems to come from an address called "obamasex@obama.com," reports the Internet security company Websense.

The e-mail reads in part:

"Sensation!!! United States Senator for Illinois Barack Obama in 2007 was travel to Ukraine and have sex action with many ukrainian girls! You may view this private porno in a flash video. Download and view now."

In case the Borat-like English and the references to the Ukraine haven't tipped you off, the attachment is full of PC viruses from Eastern Europe.

While you do get some generic porn video clips, none of which feature Barack Obama, you also get software that steals all your personal data and sends it to a Web site in Finland.

It's not the first time Obama's sex life has been linked to malware.

According to Wired magazine, an e-mail entitled "Scandal rocks Obama as lurid sex video leaked" made the rounds in June. That one led you to porn Web sites that asked you to install "viewers" on your PC.
