Guests:  Alice Perkins, Jim’s wife: Simpson St Fort was voted in as a new member at the Board Meeting. Welcome Simpson.

FINES:   Some fines made it, some didn’t: Manley, Bezjak, Magee & Miley all were hit with fines.

Foundation News:  The Foundation still has a cemetery plot or two for sale. They are located at Chapel Hill Cemetery. If interested, contact one of the Foundation members or me ( ) and I will forward your contact to one of them.

Announcements:  Scott Manley did his best to fill in for Pat McKim who was absent today. With a little more work, Scott might just get a handle on being the club President (again).

Tim had the new Directories & Fillers for those that needed them.

Bob’s granddaughter, Carley Baldwin, is out of Craig full time but still goes back for treatments which saves a ton of money. There is a gofundme page set up if you want to donate at: You can read about what happened and what she will be going through in the future. There is also a Carley Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 30 at Chinook Tavern. View the details here: page 1 page 2 (has the history of what happened).

Joe Gomez’s Golf Tournament for the Disabled Sept 15th at Englewood and starts at 7:30am so if you’re playing in it, be there a bit early.

Bob Stein made it to lunch today but still has another surgery to take place soon.

The latest issue of the Englewood Chamber Newsletter had a half page story about Arapahoe Sertoma. Read it here:

Clarke has been trying to round up Door Prizes for the up-coming Chamber event and so far isn’t doing to well. Either the businesses he has contacted doesn’t want to donate anything or they say that the manager isn’t in and check back later. Clarke will continue to try but did have a few items he has accumulated that he would donate.

Scott is getting Craig to donate some accessories for cell phones. Little things that attach to the back and allow you to hold on to the device or set the device on-end on a flat surface.

Mike Magee has a date set for this year’s Christmas party, it’s Dec 10th at Lone Tree CC.

Gary ordered 50 patches and them now for $3 each. Nice looking patches.

Orian announced that our caterer, The Copper Pot on Broadway, will cater the Chamber event. He and Buckland sampled the food that is planned on and they said it was all great. It’s not a “sit down” meal, more of a snack type thing.

Bill also passed around the Bronco-Chargers Pool for this week’s game. See photo for the squares you bought. Last week’s winners were: Athey, Grim x2 & Benton.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:   ack Marshall was a no show so Dick stepped up to the plate.
Dick Mason gave an update on his life and a few other tid bits. Dick, a Life Member, was born 11/12/45 in Quincy, Ill. The Mississippi River was next to his hometown. Three High Schools in town and he didn't graduate from any of them, he even tried to go to the all girls school.

After being suspended from high school one too many times, he joined the Marine Corp. While in the Marines, he received his GED. Dick served almost four years and was an E-5 when discharged. He has a trip to Viet Nam and Hawaii on his military resume (plus a memorable time spent on a ship for a month in the harbor).

After getting out of the service, Dick married JoAnn 49 years ago, they met in study hall. He worked a little, then went back to Glendale Community College in Phoenix, where he graduated and then got a scholarship to DU. That plus the GI bill and his hard work got him through school by March of '72. Now a CPA (that does not stand for Cleaning, Pressing & Alterations), his firm was acquired and he has moved on to bigger and better things. As of now Dick is retired.

The Mason’s have three kids, sons Bryan and Brandt, along with daughter Brandi and there are three grandkids total. Rick Jacobus brought Dick into the club about 23 years ago and he has served in a number of offices and is a Past President and Gold Coat recipient.            Listen to Dick Mason.mp3

Program:  No program but Miley filled in with details for the Chamber Event. It looks like things are falling into place. Everyone is expected to be there with their new Sertoma shirts (if you got one). The date is Tuesday, September 26th, from 5 to 7pm. You should be there a bit early to make sure everything is set up and ready to go.

Although the lunch for Sep. 28th had been canceled, it was voted on that we go ahead and have a lunch because prospective new members may show up. Miley would like to have an early get together that day around 10:30am to go over the results of the event.  Listen to Dave Miley.mp3
