There was a short Board Meeting after lunch to discuss the cost of this year’s Christmas / 60th Anniversary the club will have Dec. 14th at The Buell Mansion in Cherry Hills. The cost will be higher this year, maybe at about $40/per person and that is with the club subsidizing the cost to the tune of $10 per (if the Board approves). We are shooting for about 50 persons but need to know how many would plan on attending and how many guests so next week, Doug will ask for a count of how many might attend. Several persons have said that the Buell Mansion is a fantastic location. The meal would have to be catered and there is a limited selection of cateress allowed there. Renee Campbell, Barbara Magee and Alice Perkins are helping organize the event. Any other input on this, contact Orian, the Social Chairman.

The South Restaurant will serve our lunches with a varied American menu starting on Oct 4. Jeannie Cossey came to observe Leslie on how to handle the guys.

If you’re not caught up on your last quarter’s dues, Jim wants to see you. Next quarter invoices are on the way.

news_l6.gif SERTOMAN OF THE DAY:

Sertoman of the Day:   Cliff Metsker was born south of Nashville, TN in 1951. Cliff’s mother flew back to the U.S. just so Cliff could be born an American. Cliff and his family lived in Saudi Arabia for his first six years. His dad was a pilot for Saudi Arabia's airline. He had an interesting childhood of ferrying back and forth between Tennessee and Saudi Arabia. After his father was laid off, his family packed up and moved to a very large cattle/dairy farm in the San Luis Valley after a brief stop in TN.

With a twin brother, another set of twins and two other siblings he and his family ran cattle, sheep and various dairy cows on a farm near Center, CO. Graduating from Center High School (which is still standing) he enrolled at CSU (Tractor Tech) – He played Football and Basketball to get his tuition paid. Upon graduation he moved to Dillon, Montana for 6 years and in 1980 went back to Center, CO. He said he really enjoyed the time in Montana.

He left the farm to work for the Marshall Management Produce Company and managed an implement company, he then sold out, got married to Mary in 1987 and moved to Denver (Littleton to be exact) and opened a State Farm insurance agency . He is now a broker/agent for Farm Bureau Insurance with offices in Lakewood and Broomfield 303-984-8500. John Pifer signed him up.

Cliff has no children, but he does have 5 brothers and sisters. He has a twin brother who is a tall, goofy fellow that looks nothing like him. His mother is still alive at 93 and still driving but his dad passed away 2 years ago. He enjoys skiing, golfing, fishing and fine literature. There was no military; he said he would have made to big of a target. Listen to CliffMetsker.mp3 as he reads a short story.

It's best to talk about long term care early — before the need for medical or personal care is imminent. Here's help understanding, choosing and financing long term care.

Long term care is a general term used to describe various home and community-based services for adults who need help taking care of themselves.

If you're considering long term care options for yourself, a parent or another loved one, start the research and discussions early. If you wait, an injury or illness might force your hand — leading to a hasty decision that might not be best in the long run
